I love this house, but it is too large for just one occupant.

I started this whole New Years process with a bang. My troupe taught two workshops and performed twice at First Night Pittsburgh. Our venue was packed each time! KDKA interviewed us and I got a few seconds of air time on the late night news. For the crossover, I went to a friend of a friend's penthouse hotel room that had front row view to the New Year's Ball and near eye level to the fireworks. Finished it off by seeing good friends at the Double Wide Grill.

This is going to be one hell of a year.

It has been many many moons since I've updated this thing. I just haven't been looking at Livejournal and haven't been considering it. It happens. The biggest change that I should probably announce is that I am now single. People change, things change. Jenda and I didn't break on anger so people don't have to choose sides. We are staying friends. If you have any question, please direct them to me or her in private.

I have been performing a lot recently. I've counted almost 50 individual performances this past year! And the year isn't done yet. I'll be in Mansfield Ohio on Saturday. Next tuesday is an open dress rehearsal at Sterling Yoga in Dormont at 8pm. That is for our FIRST NIGHT performance! Moquette Volante is performing at First Night this year. 929 Liberty Ave. Shows at 7:30pm and 8:45pm. Workshops at 6:30pm and 10pm.

Oh yeah, I've made a Steampunk Santa costume for the Saturday show. I'm pretty proud of it. See it after the cut.

See the picture!Collapse )

I'm heading up to Pennsic War Practice in a few minutes. If you are going to be there, keep an eye out for me, or give me a ring.

Also, I'll be in Toronto next weekend (the 22nd-24th) with no real plans in mind. If there is something cool going on, or people I should meet up with, give me a yell. Thanks!

Talk about busy! MV had a great showing at the Silk Screen Gala. The fundraiser was a large event, filling the open floor of the building we were in. There were about eight acts total, and all did a good job. Kristi and I went on second and the crowd loved us. I'm really enjoying the storytelling aspect of the dance. Sean video taped the entire show, so I can't wait to see how we did! Kristi was eating fire outside the building at the beginning and end of the show, and we even got filmed by a WTAE camera man. I think the footage fell onto the cutting room floor, but the footage is out there. Did a lot of shoulder rubbing and handed out many many business cards for both MV and myself.

That was friday night. Saturday afternoon Jenda and I went down to Ten Thousand Villages on Forbes Ave and performed with our favorite Belly Rock band Ishtar. Jenda sang to Caje Sujarije and I did a sword dance to Misurlo. On the sidewalk in front of the store. That was fun. Janin did a very nice solo, can't forget that. After Ishtar's set, Sadiqa with guests Berna and Patricia performed. I did alot of shoulder rubbing that afternoon, and talked to a very nice reporter from one of the local newspapers. He might do a story on me, which would be fun.

Tomorrow (Sunday May 10th), Kristi and I will be at the Beach Blanket Bellydance Extravaganza at Your Inner Vagabond at 7pm. We will do our duet from the Silk Screen Gala for those who couldn't make it and each of us will do a solo. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the dancers come out.
